Using Edmodo in and out of the classroom

Page history last edited by Rick K-T 13 years, 6 months ago

Edmodo is a safe and private platform designed for education and is a place for students and teachers to communicate.  It follows the idea of Twitter and/or Facebook, in that students and teachers can post information and questions in real time using approximately 140 characters or more.  Replies to posts are threaded logically and the keeper of the space (ie. the teacher) can monitor all correspondence through email updates.

At Bellaire we are currently using Edmodo in the Grade 3/4 Middle Learning Unit.  It is used for posting notices to students and parents, reminders to families about upcoming events and forms to be returned, and an opportunity for students to ask questions about current homework projects. As 2010 has progressed, many of the students have taken a more active role in the use of Edmodo and are designing innovative ways to engage themselves such as uploading photos and movies, participating in forums and submitting a variety of projects to their teachers over the term.
